Thankfully, iPhone apps like ShopSavvy are there for you in a pinch.
Case in point: Snuggies are going fast this holiday season. Yes, you heard me correctly. The blankets with sleeves are a hot ticket item, so much so that overnight the selection of leopard Snuggies at my CVS went from plentiful to one. So my dream of gifting each of my friends with one was dashed, but only for a moment.
Luckily, a friend had just told me about the free ShopSavvy app. With the app, I scanned the barcode on my Snuggie box and, low and behold, places all over the city had some Snuggies in stock. The app finds products locally and online so you can compare prices to make sure you get the best deal. If you have time, which I clearly did not at this point, you can order the best deal online.
Instead, I used the call function to call each store to see how many leopard Snuggies were in stock. Then I quickly hailed a cab and dashed to Target to pick up the remaining blankets with sleeves. Christmas gifting disaster averted, thanks to the ShopSavvy app!
I’ll continue to use the app even after the holidays. You can actually set price alerts for items on your wish list so the app will let you know when the item meets your budget. Take it shopping and start scanning away, the app will let you know when to come back and purchase your bargain item.
The app is best used for items over $20. It also keeps a history of items scanned and has a quick link to get directions to the closest store offering the product.
