Are you cruisin’ to deliver a sword-focused bruisin’? Eternity Warriors 2 might be just what you need. The hack and slash action RPG marries the swift action of the PlayStation 3’s God of War series, with the bite-sized level breakdown so common in mobile games, for an experience that is worth checking out.
Visually, it’s hard to overstate how smooth Eternity Warriors 2 looks. The controls themselves aren’t out of the ordinary for an iPhone adventure game – just a digital D-pad on screen next to a few action buttons. The D-pad and main attack buttons are decently sized though some of the special attack buttons are a little too small and can be missed too easily when they’re most needed. But moving your character through the game world feels fantastic. Other than the constant waves of enemies that demand to be carved up like Thanksgiving turkey, it’s the grace of the animation that most reminds me of the classic God of War games.
The smooth framerate is even more impressive when you consider how good Eternity Warriors 2 looks. Enemies are as detailed as the medieval world they inhabit and the lighting and shading are both top-notch as well. This is an extremely good-looking game.

That the larger game world is broken up until short sub-levels is helpful if you’re the sort of mobile gamer who plays only for a few minutes at a time. Levels can be finished in under five minutes, though Eternity Warrior 2 has a fair difficulty that will make things difficult without seemingly completely unfair.
Eternity Warriors 2’s main issue is that it requires a good deal of playing before you can really upgrade to the powerful weapons, armor and other assorted gear. Sure, you can pay real money and get the good stuff earlier, but you shouldn’t have to. The slow road to success is hardly a dealbreaker though. Eternity Warrior 2 is fun enough to play that having to slog through a little longer for the coins and experience necessary to upgrade your character to a worthwhile level feels worth it.
If you’re in the mood to hack and slash through some dungeons, Eternity Warriors 2 is a blast to play. Just know that you’ll have to hunker down for the long haul before you’ll get to use the heavy artillery.
