St. Patrick’s Day is full of fun even if you aren’t Irish. There is green beer, corned beef, leprechauns and who can resist a hunt for a pot of gold? I really think the Easter Bunny stole St. Patrick’s thunder with the whole Easter egg hunt scam… I’d much rather chase a leprechaun to the end of the rainbow for some cash. Anyway, here are some Irish-themed apps to get you raved up for some St. Patrick’s Day fun
Lucktricity ($0.99)
Whether you’re having an adult party for St. Patrick’s Day with green beer, or a children’s party with green eggs and ham, check out the Lucktricity app for some drinking game fun. Participants young and old put their finger on the screen and the app calculates your luck. Luck as in if you are going to take a sip, a big old chug or pound your drink. For the children’s game, I recommend using green Kool-Aid as green milk could be pretty gross to clean up after accidents.
St. Patricks Photo Effects ($1.99)
St. Patrick’s Day is one of the more kitschy holidays in the United States. You have pots of gold, leprechauns, rainbows and more. Use the St. Patricks Photo Effects app to decorate your personal photos and get in the spirit of the Irish. Did you always wonder what your boss would look like smoking a pipe and wearing buckled shoes? Now is your chance; however, I recommend you refrain from uploading photos of your boss dressed like a leprechaun to your Facebook page, unless they have a really good sense of humor or you want to lose your job.
Beer Counter (Free)
If you tend to get a little to jolly with your friends on this Irish holiday and lose track of the amount of green beer you have inhaled, download the free Beer Counter app to keep track. Or maybe you have a friend who seems to lose track and lie about the amount of cocktails they imbibed, keep track of your boozy friend with the Beer Counter and then call them a cab.
St. Patrick’s Festival Guide (Free)
If you are lucky enough to travel to Dublin and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the native Irish, check out the free St. Patrick’s Festival Guide app. This Irish travel app is all new for 2011 and will help you navigate with a map of activities as well as covering all the major activities in Dublin. If you are stuck at home, the app also has a live feed of the annual parade.
Rudy’s Power Thoughts – Inspirations & Insights ($1.99)
If you are tired of all the drunken leprechauns on St. Patrick’s Day, check out the Rudy’s Power Thoughts – Inspirations & Insights app. The app brings you 365 days of motivational thoughts from the Fighting Irish’s most inspirational player that spawned the much-loved movie, Rudy.
NCAA March Madness On Demand (Free)
On a Fighting Irish note, this week also is the first round of the NCAA Tournament and you won’t want to miss any moment of the March Madness including Notre Dame’s matchup. So download the free NCAA March Madness On Demand app, fill out your bracket and keep track of all the games without being in a front of a TV.
