Dwight Schrute – The Office Soundboard is as annoying as you’d hope

The character of Dwight Schrute on NBC’s The Office is incredibly smug and annoying, so wouldn’t you like to carry around his vocabulary in your iPhone? You can do so with the unofficial app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, Dwight Schrute – The Office Soundboard.

Dwight Schrute offers up 28 of the assistant (to the) regional manager’s words or phrases, ranging from the standard “Fact” and “False” to the lesser-used “Women are like wolves” and “I am the bobblehead.” The sounds are divided across two pages in no particular order, with each tab labeled with the corresponding text. Each sound played what it said it would, although the quality varied considerably (some clips still had background noise). As a writer, the “You’re dead” clip labeled as “Your dead” drove me nuts. Like other soundboards, tapping a clip in quick succession provides a remix-style sound, and clips will play simultaneously.

Should you buy Dwight Schrute – The Office Soundboard? I wouldn’t willingly spend a dollar on the app, but that goes for any soundboard. If you need the timbre of actor Rainn Wilson’s voice to lull you to sleep, I suppose the Dwight Schrute app would suffice, but the app certainly won’t be making any must-have lists.
