Video game fans will recognize this one. When Resident Evil 4 game out on the Nintendo GameCube, it reinvented (and reinvigorated) one of the biggest game franchises in history, and became one of the best game’s on Nintendo’s system. Developer Capcom is having a big sale on games this weekend, and this is one you can and should snag on the cheap. It’s not the same as playing this survival horror, third-person shooter on your TV at home, but Resident Evil 4 is pretty immersive and creates a great gaming experience on your iPhone.
Mega Man 2 (iPhone) $0.99 (was $2.99)
Speaking of Capcom games, if you like classic, challenging 8-bit side-scrollers, fire up Mega Man 2. It also is on sale this weekend.Mega Man is a tried-and-true series and if you’re familiar with it at all, you’ll know that it’s pretty solid. On the iPhone, the side-scrolling platform game is just as difficult as it always was. Fans of old-school gaming can’t go wrong with this one for just a buck. Capcom also has Dark Void Zero, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire 2010, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, 1942: First Strike, Cash Cab and Cash Cab: Las Vegas on sale for $0.99.

TomTom U.S. & Canada (iPhone) $49.99 (was $59.99)
Buying TomTom’s turn-by-turn GPS app now knocks $10 off the regular price and gets you a new update that increases the app’s functionality. Most notably, the app now works even while you’re on a call, allowing you to answer your phone safely and still avoid getting lost while driving.If you’re a fan of TomTom’s services, this is a cheaper alternative to buying a larger GPS unit. The price cut isn’t wonderful, but some savings is better than none, right?

PhotoGoo (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
This simple photography app is free, which is incentive enough to grab it and start messing with photos. PhotoGoo lets you manipulate, alter, and generally mess around with your photos. Drag your finger over the screen to stretch photos, giving them a sort of “gooey” look. It makes for some funny photos of friends and family. PhotoGoo doesn’t seem incredibly deep, but for free, it doesn’t have to be.
Utilities
SYSTEM Manager (iPhone)$0.99 (was $1.99)
An interesting app that tracks all of your iPhone’s inner computer workings, including memory usage, background programs and battery life. SYSTEM Manager is mostly a detailed monitoring program, which is handy. Use this one to keep an eye on the performance of your iPhone to troubleshoot issues like slow loading.The app’s best feature, however, is its Memory Sweep function, which is supposed to free up additional memory on your phone to help troubleshoot slow running issues. If you’re having iPhone issues, you might start with this app.

Wine Ph.D. (iPhone)Free (was $4.99)
Wine lovers, grab this one while it doesn’t cost you anything.It’s basically just a database of wines, but Wine Ph.D. is useful for real wine lovers who want to explore thevarious wines that are out there. The app lets you search through catalogs of wines using various criteria and boasts thousands of different bottles.Use the app to find new wines and you can add them to an in-app list called “My Wines,” where you can also make tasting notes to remember how you felt about each experience.
