Nemira (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
It’s almost Halloween and this free game is in the spirit of the upcoming holiday. Nemira is simple Bomberman-style top-down game that has you guiding a ghost through grid-like levels, setting pumpkins that explode to clear boxes and find secrets.
There’s not a whole lot to the game, but it’s a simple distraction with a Halloween-themed look that can be picked up immediately and is easy to play.
DualSpinBall (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
Got a friend handy? You’ll want a second player for this game, which is basically an air hockey/ping-pong hybrid. Each player defends a goal with what looks like a pong paddle, and the goal is to bounce a fast-moving ball into the other player’s goal.
Things get a little tense when the pace of DualSpinBall picks up – the court is small and that ball moves pretty fast. To make things more interesting, instead of just bouncing the ball, a tap makes your paddle spin, adding energy to the ball and sending it back at high speed and crazy angles. DualSpinBall is simple, free, and a good time with a second person.
Prank Me! (iPhone, iPad) $0.99 (was $4.99)
Here’s a pretty elaborate way to mess with your friends using prank phone calls, either with your own phone or by using your iPhone as a speaker for another phone. Prank Me! includes various recorded phrases in something like 48 different voices, allowing you to play the voice clips to fool the person at the other end of the line. For example, one set of clips is meant to seem as if they make up an automated message from a telephone company, notifying the person on the other about a huge balance on his or her phone bill.
The range of voices is pretty big (most are generic for the prank situation you’re trying to create, but one is meant to sound like Al Pacino) and the clips are generous in the phrases you need to complete the joke illusion. If you’re into this sort of thing, $0.99 seems like a steal for this one.
Peekaboo Child Lock (iPhone) Free (was $1.99)
There’s very little to this app, but it’s free and could be useful. Turn on Peekaboo and the app plays some animal characters and moving stars over the screen to distract toddlers, while keeping your phone free from accidental calls to foreign countries. Handy in waiting rooms for parents with little kids who could use a minor distraction.
