Heading today’s Download Discounts are a pair of pretty interesting free apps: one, a Halloween-themed tilt-controlled game that’s simple but addictive; the other, a music app that lets you play three different simulated instruments from one app. Check them out below, before their prices jump back up.
Monster Munch (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
This tilt-controlled game won’t be free for long, so grab it while you can. It’s really simple — a few different kinds of objects fall from the top of the screen, and you have to either catch or dodge them. Pumpkins earn you points; skulls take one of your lives. The object is to try to catch as many pumpkins as possible without taking too many hits. You control your character’s position by tilting your iPhone.
Monster Munch has a very intuitive, fluid set of tilt controls and a simple premise that makes it fun and addictive. It also includes leaderboard support, which lets you compare your skills to everyone else in the world, which will definitely help keep things interesting.
Balkan Folk Instruments (iPhone) Free (was $1.99)
Musicians, check out this free app. It gives you access to three simulated Greek folk instruments in one place, with more potentially on the way.
The app includes the gaida, or Greek bagpipes; the doumbek, or hand drum; and the pontian flogera, or flute. It combines use of the touch screen and microphone to simulate playing the wind instruments, and features sounds and notes recorded by professional folk musicians for the simulated music the app creates.
Stealth Browser (iPhone) $0.99 (was $1.99)
Browsing the Internet can be a little bit dangerous from a privacy standpoint. Whenever you load a website, it saves cookies to your computer (or in this case, your iPhone) in order to save passwords or load the site more quickly next time. But cookies aren’t necessarily good things, and could potentially represent security risks to your personal information.
Stealth Browser works to reduce security risks by wiping the browser’s memory cache every time you load it up; it’s like loading a browser for the first time, every time. If you’re worried about privacy concerns when you’re surfing the Internet from your iPhone, this is a pretty great price for an app that could help protect you.
