A couple of very cool games are drastically reduced in price today, and they head up our Download Discounts list. Action iPhone gamers, take a look at Assassin’s Creed. If racing on the iPad is more your bag, you’ll want to scroll down to GT Racing: Motor Academy. Both are 99 cents and worth checking out before they jump back up in price.
Assassin’s Creed – Altair’s Chronicles (iPhone) $0.99 (was $4.99)
It seems this prequel to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 hit Assassin’s Creed is free in honor of the release of the third console game in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which comes out today.
This action-adventure game maintains a lot of the story and feel of the console version of Assassin’s Creed, while still scaling down well to the iPhone. The game normally goes for four times as much, so fans of the AC franchise should snag this one while they have a chance. And for other gamers looking for a new action frontier, Assassin’s Creed – Altair’s Chronicles is at too great a price to pass up.
GT Racing: Motor Academy HD (iPad) $0.99 (was $6.99)
GT Racing is filled with real cars you can upgrade and take to the road in this iPad app, which is way cheap for a limited time.
You’ll pull down 14 tracks and hundreds of cars with this app, which includes a Career Mode that lets you start at the bottom and try to work your way through the racing ranks, and an Arcade Mode for when you just want to jump into a quick street battle. The game also supports up to six players in online or local multiplayer modes.
Pulse News Mini (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
Here’s a solid news reader app that presents its content in a really clean, simple way. The app lets you search for RSS feeds using keywords and websites, so you don’t need to know much about how news feeds work to use the app, and you can access up to 20 different feeds at any given time.
You can sync your Pulse feeds when you’re online so that they’ll be available even when your iPhone is offline, letting you access and read articles anytime. Pulse will also let you quickly share links on Facebook and Twitter straight from the app, as well.
