Crazy Cubes (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
You can catch this puzzle game on sale until tomorrow with its high-tech, Tron-like aesthetic, and a simple but challenging method of gameplay. Each new level presents a gameboard made up of grid squares. At the start of the board is a cube, and you roll the cube around the board in order to touch each square to eliminate it. The trick is to move around the board in the proper order to keep from getting stuck anywhere on your way to the end.
The difficulty ramps up during the 48 levels the app comes with. Even the early levels can be tough, however, and require a lot of spatial reasoning in order to solve them. Take advantage of this sale and snag Crazy Cubes while you can.
Underscore Notify (iPhone, iPad) $0.99 (was $1.99)
There are quite a few apps which allow you to quickly takes notes or jot down ideas to be revisited later, but the cool thing about Underscore Notify is that it lets you open up other documents — PDFs, images and even web pages — and annotate them directly from your device.
Underscore works with lots of different document services, including Dropbox and Google Docs, so you can access just about anything you’re working on, look it over, and scribble down ideas to remember for later. A very handy app if you’ve got anything that needs editing, and for collaboration with others.
Stealth Assist (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
Who hasn’t been in a situation in which they needed to sneak into a secret CIA computer room, but the entire place was wired with audio sensors? You could opt to have a mercenary lower you down to the computer terminal using an overly elaborate full-body harness — or you could just use Stealth Assist to monitor how much noise you’re producing.
Okay, so you might not be re-enacting scenes from Mission Impossible, but Stealth Assist is free, and that means you have a no-responsibility chance to find a good reason to use this app in your everyday life. Maybe you won’t have many situations in which you need know the number of decibles you’re producing. Then again, you never know…
