Celebrate another week half over with a triple threat of free puzzle games in today’s Download Discounts list. Start out with Tiki Lavalanche, a Jenga-like game in which you need to strategically remove wood blocks to let gold ones fall to safety without dropping into lava. Then move onto Zlider, a game in which you move the maze that you need to navigate. And finally, there’s Wriggle, a puzzler requiring you to figure out how to move worms so you can get them out of their own wooden mazes. Enjoy all three below.
Tiki Lavalanche (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Tiki Lavalanche is a new take on the Tiki Totems series, in which your task is to systematically remove blocks from a stack in order to get gold pieces to fall on a stone tablet at the bottom of the screen. Each puzzle includes several gold blocks, so removing the wooden blocks in order is key to success — the more gold blocks you drop onto the stone tablet without any tipping and falling into the surrounding lava, the higher your score.
You get 75 levels included with the ad-supported Tiki Lavalanche, which includes in-app purchases for more levels or to remove ads. It also comes with a free level editor, so you can create and share your own puzzles, or complete those made by other players.
Zlider (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Much like the quality iOS game Squareball, Zlider is a game in which you have to help a comet move through a side-scrolling 2D maze — only instead of controlling the comet, you control the maze with two sliders on either side of the screen. The comet moves at a set speed along a fixed track, and your job is to adjust the sliders to move red and blue maze blocks up and down, opening paths for the comet and also moving gems that you need to collect into the comet’s path.
Zlider packs 80 levels to work through that will test your hand-eye coordination and reflexes. It also contains its own global leaderboards that interact with Facebook, allowing you to track your success and see how you stack up against your actual friends who play the game.
Wriggle (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Worms are trapped in mazes in Wriggle, and it’s your job to drag at least one of them — the blue one — out of them. In each of Wriggle’s puzzle levels, there’s a blue worm that you need to move through the maze to a goal by pulling on either its head or its tail. You’ll have a limited number of drags to do it with, though, and sometimes you’ll have to figure out how to get other worms out of the way to clear the path for the blue worm.
Eighty puzzles of varying difficulties are on offer in Wriggle, which includes its own achievements that are unlocked as you progress. The game also features integration with Twitter, so you can send tweets about your progress through Wriggle to let your friends know how you’re doing, and how smart you are.
