Start your day off right with a couple of free games from today’s Download Discounts. Traverse is a puzzler with an interesting set of controls: You guide a disc through each level for maximum points by setting targets that show where it’s going to travel, and whether its path will be straight or curved. In Deathfall, you’ll use tilt controls to keep a skull from getting bashed against spikes as it falls. And then there’s Lifelike Craig, an awesome iPad app for browsing Craigslist.com that is half price for another day only. Check out all three below.
Traverse (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
Part puzzler, part action game, Traverse has something of a weird method to its play: your goal is to get a disc to move around the screen and collect floating orbs called nodes, and you direct the disc by setting two targets for it. You start the disc moving by tapping its launcher, and depending on where you placed the other two targets, the disc will move between them in either a straight or a curved path. The key is to smartly place all the targets so your disc snags all the orbs.
Traverse comes with a puzzle mode and an action mode, and supports both Game Center and OpenFeint for its achievements and online leaderboards. There are more than 100 levels to be found in Traverse, as well as power-ups that make your disc do different things like explode or change paths.
Lifelike Craig HD – Craigslist for iPad $0.99 (was $1.99)
Planning on a new iPad 2 purchase? Lifelike Craig is an app you should consider, especially because it’s being revamped for the new device and is currently on sale for half-off. It also has a great interface that converts Craigslist.com into a traditional classifieds page, allowing you to quickly and easily browse postings on your iPad.
Lifelike Craig arranges listings by location and allows you to search through them, assign listings to your “Favorites” list, and even create Craigslist postings of your own. You can respond to listings from within the app, forward ads to friends, and view all photos associated with a listing just by tapping one.
Deathfall (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $2.99)
Your skull is falling, and the only way to direct its path is by tilting your iPhone back and forth to try to collect as many objects as possible, while avoiding sharp spikes that can destroy you. That’s Deathfall in a nutshell, but more than that, the game is fairly addictive and requires a light touch to master. It also has a pretty great art style.
Deathfall includes Twitter and Facebook support to share your high scores, and Game Center infuses it with achievements and leaderboards for even more opportunities to brag. Deathfall is pretty simple, but still manages to be interesting and engaging, both visually and with its gameplay.
