Hysteria Project (iPhone) Free
You’re the main character in a choose-your-own-adventure game in Hysteria Project, a horror game that uses real film for its aesthetic. You’re on the hunt for a serial killer, but your real task is to make decisions at key moments to avoid becoming one of his victims.
Hysteria Project 2, the app’s sequel, is on its way to the App Store on January 27, and the original is currently free to celebrate the sequel’s release. Now’s the time to check this one out.
Buster Red (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
You’ll see quite a few vertical shooters in the App Store, and lots of them are unremarkable. Buster Red is an arcade shooter that stands apart because of its comic art style and density of power-ups — it’s fun mostly because it gives you plenty of guns to equip on your ship as you take on aliens that descend from the top of the screen, firing back at you with an endless barrage of ammo.
Buster Red includes 30 different levels and five ships to choose from. Game Center support provides leaderboards and achievements, and the game features an automatic saving function to maintain your place when you need to shut it down.
muBlip (iPhone) Free (was $3.99)
Rhythm game muBlip uses a minimalist flare and an easy beat to create a game that’s part Simon Says, part Tap Tap Revenge and part Memory. During each stage, a series of movements is show on the screen that you have to replicate when your turn comes, matching the beat of the music behind it. More than just tapping, there’s also sliding and other maneuvers you have to complete with different shapes in order to pass each stage.
You’ll push through 13 levels of increasing complexity in muBlip, and the game lets you set the difficulty of what you’ll contend with from its main menu. It also includes Game Center leaderboards and achievements to allow you to see how you match up against friends,
