The iOS port of the popular PC point-and-click adventure game is half off for a limited time — so this is a very good time to check it out. The game includes all the images, music and full-screen movies and animations of the original, and has been updated with autosaving and multitasking support.
Riven also has a few cool new features developed for its new platform, like a “bookmark” system that lets you save and reload your game to pick up where you left off easily. You can also tap to zoom anywhere on the screen to help you find clues to solve puzzles, and the game includes a hint system for when you’re really stuck.

Take on this game’s bold claim about your ability to survive a missile onslaught on the Earth for free today, and see if you can outplay it without it costing you anything. The Earth rests on your screen, defenseless against an eventual barrage of missiles that you have to attempt to destroy with furious tapping. The longer you last, the more points you rack up — but the game is extremely hard, so even clocking a few extra seconds is something to be excited about.
You Won’t Last 60 Seconds doesn’t have a ton of features, but it does include an interesting challenge to pose to friends and family. It logs your best times, high scores and biggest combos to encourage you to try to do better next time. This is a simple game if ever there was one, and is definitely designed for those of us with a wide competitive streak.
Talking Panda (iPhone) Free (was $1.99)
Pico the Panda is one of those talking character apps, in which a character appears on your screen and can be interacted with using various different controls and functions on your iPhone. Speak and Pico mimics you, and tickling him on the touchscreen causes him to laugh and react.
Talking Panda includes Game Center-supported achievements that reward you for creatively interacting with Pico, and you can poke him in various places to see what he’ll do. Sneeze and he’ll react with surprise. After you’re done messing with the panda, you can send e-cards to your friends and family through Facebook or emails that feature your talking panda.
