The dollar deals continue after the holiday in the iTunes App Store, with three more cool apps receiving the greenback treatment. We’ve got a stats-based business sim for you, plus a status update app and another addition to the social media race. Check them out below.
Game Dev Story (iPhone) $0.99 (was $2.99)
Yup, someone made a video game about making video games. In Game Dev Story, you manage a video game developer in a stats-based simulation, in which you work to hire people to your firm that can make your game a success.
As you might expect from a simulator, you’re tasked with training the people in your company and developing their skills through several role-playing game elements. You’ll level up your team and use power-ups and strategic know-how in order to attempt to build the greatest, most interesting game on consoles yet.
QuickPost (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)
The name says it all: QuickPost claims to be the best at allowing users to post and connect with various social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. In a nutshell, you can post to all your networks with the same app and the push of a single button.
While it’s somewhat limited at the moment as far as social media channels it has access to, there are some cool and useful points to the app: namely, you can switch on and off different accounts. Basically, the switching allows you to send updates to only one or some of your possible social networks — just in case you’d like to talk about people you knew in high school on Twitter, but without their finding out through Facebook.
QuikSocial (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
According to the QuikSocial description, this app does it all — it links you into instant messaging and social networking outlets all from within the app, and it’s free to you for a limited time.
QuikSocial supports chat features like Facebook Chat and Google Chat, as well as allowing its users to pull open their favorite social networking sites without ever leaving the app. It also connects to various kinds of media from several sources, including YouTube, Last FM, Flickr, MySpace and others — all of which can be played or accessed from within QuikSocial.
