Apps are still on sale for the holidays, and we’ve got three more you should grab while you’ve got the chance. Osmos, one of the iPhone’s best games, is at the head of the pack for only a buck. Read all about it below — then go download it, because it’s worth having as part of your gaming library.
Osmos (iPhone) $0.99 (was $2.99)
One of the coolest games on the iPhone is available for a third of the price through the holidays, and you should definitely snap it up now while you have the opportunity. This atmospheric, unique puzzle game is an app you should add to your list.
In Osmos, you take control of a single-celled organism that usually just needs to absorb other organisms to become the biggest on the screen. You can absorb smaller organisms, while larger ones will absorb you. It gets more complex as you try to bounce around the screen or find yourself orbiting large bodies like a planet, fighting gravity as you attempt to solve puzzles and absorb other organisms.
Dictionary.com (iPhone) $2.99 (was $3.99)
One of the better reference apps available on the iPhone is Dictionary.com, which comes in a free and a paid version. Obviously, the app makes it possible to quickly look up the definitions of words in the dictionary, and you can also reference thesaurus entries from the same place.
Dictionary.com is smart enough to look up words even when you’re not using a Wi-Fi connection, and it includes daily content like the Word of the Day to be a little more valuable than just an app for looking up synonyms. It includes a lot of information and can search up to 1 million words — Dictionary.com is the kind of app that’s too useful not to have.
ReelDirector (iPhone, iPad) $1.99 (was $3.99)
With the release of the iPhone 4, iOS owners got hold of an HD-capable video camera. ReelDirector gives you the fully functional ability to edit the videos you shoot with your phone, right on your phone. It’s an older app now, but ReelDirector was recognized last year as being one of the App Store’s best, so enjoy getting it for half-off.
ReelDirector lets you add various effects to your movies, like text and music, and you can upload completed works directly to YouTube from the app. There’s a lot you can do with just this one app, including splicing and editing — if you plan on using your iPhone for shooting video, you’ll want to download this one for cleaning it up afterward.
