Fans of the survival horror genre of video games, which includes console offerings like the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series, will want to grab their free download of the first episode of Fallen. It’s a little short, but it accurately captures the gory horror atmosphere of the genre on your iPhone.
The app has you fighting monsters in a third-person setting as a convict in some kind of haunted prison. You play with the app’s on-screen virtual controls, while performing additional actions using the iPhone’s accelerometer. Fallen also includes several save slots, so you can maintain your game progress even though you’ve closed the app or shut off your phone.
3D Coloring Book for Kids (iPad) Free (was $2.99)
Guess what this app is — it turns your iPad’s screen into a coloring book for kids, which they can manipulate and interact with using the iPad’s touchscreen. You can access multiple colors to use in the drawings, and rotate them to add color to all three dimensions of the various objects the app has available.
Kids can color-in the various objects and then save their work when they’re done, allowing them to keep working on drawings later, or access them when they’re finished. The app also uses 3D shading techniques and allows for the addition of clipart pictures to the works.
GoReader (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
It’s always nice to have a high-functioning RSS feed reader, and GoReader can fill that role, plus it’s free for a limited time. It does exactly what you’d figure: allows you to port in your RSS feeds and check them out quickly and cleanly on your iPhone, using a 3G or Wi-Fi Internet connection.
GoReader can also sync with Google Reader, if you already have an account there, to make it easier to add in your RSS feeds and to keep track of what’s new and what’s old among your articles. The app also supports multiple accounts, so you can check into various RSS feeds or let more than one person access their specific feeds on a single iOS device.
