We’ve got a line-up of free apps for your perusal heading into this Tuesday, and you’ll want to check out Robot Wants Kitty immediately. It’s free for a limited time and recently made one of our Best Games of the Week lists, and the platformer very much worth grabbing while it doesn’t cost a thing. There’s also a free puzzle game in Zentomino that is brimming with levels, and the social networking app Switchee that makes updating multiple accounts and services quick and easy. Robot Wants Kitty (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
You’re a robot. You want a kitty. So in Robot Wants Kitty, you’ll work through large platforming levels set in a laboratory, trying to find your way to the object of your affection. Like classic platformers such as Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, you’ll have to explore each level thoroughly to find the tools to unlock the path forward — like the ability to jump, fire lasers and traverse pits.
Starting up the game gives you access to various kinds of levels that have varying difficulty levels. The game was recently updated to deal with some bugs and integrate a map function as well, making it a little easier to navigate Robot Wants Kitty’s large levels. If you like exploration platformers, you’ll dig this one — and you can’t go wrong with free.
Zentomino (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Build puzzles with Tetris-style pieces in Zentomino, a brain-teaser of a game that includes more than 200 stages for you to work through. Each level presents you with a shaded area that you have to fill with various blocks in order to fill the shaded patch in completely, without overlapping the pieces or leaving anything uncovered.
You can choose to solve puzzles in any order and Zentomino has levels of varying difficulty to keep you challenged, but without any pressure along the way (hence the “zen” part of the name). You can also integrate in music from your iPod, and link up with friends using Game Center.
Switchee (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Integrate all of your social networking applications in one place with Switchee, an app that lets you flip “switches” in order to update multiple networks at once. You can combine Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter, as well as other applications, within the app, then use switches to send your status updates to all or some of them, and include things like videos and pictures as well.
Switchee’s claim to fame is the ability to preset switches to use later. If there’s a status update you find yourself posting frequently or information you like to get out quickly without typing, you can set a switch and then just flip it from within the app to instantly send out the preset update to all the networks you specify. You can also find friends through Switchee and hold conversations with them using the app’s chat function.
