Time for another work week, so treat yourself — pick up a few of the free games we’ve tracked down for today’s Download Discounts list. Doodle Egg and Fragger Lost City are solid physics puzzlers, while Run Like Hell! will have you doing just that in order to avoid being eaten by native cannibals on a tropical island. They’re all free and they’re all fun, so hit the App Store and give yourself something to do other than work today.
Doodle Egg (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
It’s as simple as getting an egg into a basket. That’s what’s going on in Doodle Egg, a physics puzzler that bounces and rolls an egg across a lined-paper graphical style screen, attempting to get it into a basket at the far end of the level. You’ll deal with realistic physics and a fun but minimalistic look.
Doodle Egg includes 30 different levels, which isn’t too bad considering. It also packs a level editor that lets you build your own Doodle Egg yourself. Once you’ve got your levels built with the editor, you have a number of new options — you can save them and share them with others using social media, allowing your friends to play your creation if they’ve got Doodle Egg as well. You can also play other players’ self-made levels too.
Fragger Lost City (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
New Fragger levels are now available in Fragger Lost City, and you’ll want to snag this one while it’s free. Fragger’s physics-based grenade-lobbing puzzles are a lot like those seen in Angry Birds: you have to take out terrorists with your grenades and you have a limited supply, so aiming and choosing how hard to throw them in order to be highly effective is key to success.
Lost City comes with 30 new challenges you didn’t get in the last Fragger release. The game supports iPod music so you can pick the soundtrack that goes with your puzzle-solving explosive ways, and Game Center support means tracking your progress against your friends and enemies on the app’s leaderboards.
Run Like Hell! (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
You’re stranded on a tropical island, where the natives are cannibals and the only thing between you and them are whatever obstacles and miles you can put there. Strap on your running shoes and take on Run Like Hell!, a side-scrolling running game that differentiates itself through its art style, and the fact that timing jumps to get over rocks and other objects is key to staying ahead of enemies.
Run Like Hell! features lots of levels and cutscenes in its story mode, and also features five “endless” modes in different locales to change up the scenerey for you. It’s also backed up by support from OpenFeint and Game Center, giving you access to leaderboards and achievements that will help you track your progress as you work to escape angry cannibals.
