An app that helps you find a job would be a very valuable thing. Luckily enough, the iPhone App Store has dozens of helpful options to choose from. Hanajobs’ High Salary Job Search app is not one of those helpful options.
While the High Salary Job Search app supposedly aggregates millions of jobs in order to best match the user’s keyword search, the results the search returns often seem completely one-dimensional. A search for the keyword “business” returns dozens of results for a business analyst, but nothing else.
Even if you find the results you’re looking for, you’re still likely to run into trouble. Often, when clicking on a result, the job has either expired or will simply crash your phone back to the home screen.
While activating your search by typing in a keyword and selecting a location (or letting the iPhone use your current location) to find a job is easy enough; even reading the results is cumbersome, as the app basically runs an internal Web browser that mirrors what you’d see on Hanajobs.com. At that point, it becomes unclear what makes this app useful at all, seeing as you might as well just use Safari to get to the Hanajobs website yourself.
With such competition out in the job market right now, it’s only naturally that people would look to an iPhone app for an extra edge. But until the High Salary Job Search app makes some major improvements in its usability and function, they’d be better off looking elsewhere.
