Yardsale is the sort of no-frills app that is easy to overlook thanks to its general lack of bells-and-whistles. But if you want to sell some of your old stuff without a lot of hassle, it’s also just the tool for the job.
You don’t have to deal with setting up auctions or paying posting fees. Yardsale just lets you list your item and hope for the best. Most items on the app don’t come with a ton of background info, but there’s a handy way to ask the seller a question should you need something cleared up before you make a purchase.
Supposing Yardsale doesn’t have what you want, you can also set up alerts for specific items so you’ll know when they appear on the app. It’s a nice way to save yourself from obsessively checking the app throughout the day.
Other than searching for an item, Yardsale also lists the most recently-posted items and items nearest your current location, so if you go traveling you have an opportunity to come back with some rare finds to cap off your trip.

If there’s one area where Yardsale may make its users feel ill at ease is that it asks for personal information like an email address, name and phone number up front. The app promises not to share that information until an item has been bought or sold, at which point the app would automatically exchange the buyer and seller’s info, but it’s a bit of an intense thing to see seconds after you open the app for the first time.
If that’s not the sort of thing that gets under your skin, Yardsale makes for a great way to easily unload some of your unwanted wares without the hassle of dealing with third-party auction sites.
