Sending out text messages to multiple people can be a pain. Yes, you can include two or more recipients when composing a message, but scrolling through dozens of contacts is time-consuming and annoying.
The Disco Messenger app (free) helps you sidestep the tedium by allowing you to create and store contact groups. You’ll never have to worry about typing out multiple messages, or inadvertently omitting a friend or sibling or whomever from a mass text again.
To activate Disco Messenger, you need to send a text to the developer, which is done with the tap of a finger when you first open the app.
Then it’s time to put together a group. Name it, and then scroll through your list of contacts, selecting as you go. Try to get everyone on there the first time around because modifying the group list after it’s been created is cumbersome.
In fact, that’s one of the main drawbacks of Disco Messenger. If you want to add someone to the group list, you have to send a text to the developer, rather than just doing it yourself. And as far as I could tell, the only way to take someone off the group list is by deleting the entire group and starting over.
Nevertheless, it’s a blast having a running stream of texts going with friends and family. Just be ready to have your phone vibrating about 30 times a minute.
