The folks at Bolt Creative have done something magical a month before Halloween–they’ve added zombies to Pocket God.
The genius behind this enterainment app hinges on the timely integration of clever updates. Since purchasing Pocket God in August, I have seen spectacular add-ons and iterations: Ooga Jump, Bait Master, Idle Hands 2: Caught With Your Pants Down, Sharks with Frickin’ Laserbeams Attached to Their Heads (nice to see someone is satisfying Dr. Evil’s request), and the most recent, Dead Pygmy Walking.

As an omnipotent being, you can turn one of your pygmies into a zombie by following these easy steps: flick the fresh dirt covering the solitary grave, drop in a pygmy, then cover him up with the very same dirt. The symbol on the tombstone will illuminate a bluish hue and your pygmy will punch his light blue, undead fist through the soil. Line up your ‘living’ pygmies in a row and watch the zombies bite them until your entire tribe craves brains.
As a bonus, if you toggle the ‘dance’ icon in the navigation and repeadedly tap the screeen, your newly created zomb-mies will mimick the dance made famous by the late Michael Jackson’s music video for “Thriller”.
Apart from the update, there’s plenty more to keep you busy. Pocket God appeals to the control freak in all of us. As I forced the island sun to set, replacing it with a crescent moon, all of my Pygmies curled up on the sand and a chorus of snores ensued. During their slumber, I touched the moon which triggered a vampire bat to swoop down and sink its teeth into one of my unsuspecting subjects, sending him into a rabid killing frenzy. Other bonus moments: islanders pausing to yawn, ponder, pick their noses, or pass gas followed by a quick giggle.
