Create mobile presentations through Keypoint app

If you’ve ever found yourself in need of an electronic presentation, but without access to a computer or program, the Keypoint app ($1.99) is here to save the day. The app, which works on iPhone and iPod Touch, can help you quickly put a presentation together with just a few taps.

After you’ve created your presentation—the user interface is easy to figure out and you can create your project in a matter of seconds once you know what you’re writing—you can export the file. This requires a Keypoint account, which you set-up in the app, and you can send the file as a PDF or to Keynote. You can also share your presentation using SlideShare (account required), among other options.

Although Keypoint’s developer did provide 10 themes and seven slide animations to choose from, there’s no customization available for font, text size or text color. You can choose the layout of your slide, but with no support for images, the presentations will be on the bland side. However, that’s not to say that the app wouldn’t get you out of a dire “oops-I-forgot-about-this-project” situation.

Keypoint’s use is limited, as the presentation quality isn’t going to cut it in most professional settings, and iPad users already have access to Keynote through iWorks; so the real target for this app is iPhone and iPod Touch users. Keypoint is a good idea in theory, but more customization and advanced presentation options are needed to make the purchase worth the download.
