Cogs iPhone game the only time playing with cogs will be considered fun

There are 10 quirky games included in the Cogs iPhone game with the (clever and almost sneaky) option to buy many more. The nature of each of the games is problem solving, more in a Tetris way than a math or crossword puzzle way. You are definitely using your brain but not overly so, and certainly not in a way that feels like hard work.

Each game has its own theme, keeping track of your score via time and moves, and is a combination of a touch frustrating, but mostly pleasant, to play. Whether it be “Gears,” “Jack-in-the-Box,” or “One Balloon,” I am on the edge of my seat while playing, and then hit with a wave of satisfaction and relief after cracking the codes.

The only part about this iPhone game I find mysterious and possibly even disorienting: why cogs? Aside from The Jetsons’ Cogswell Cogs and Spacely Sprockets (yes, I realize this dates me by referencing this show), I can’t think of anything particularly exciting about cogs. Then again, Mario and Luigi are plumbers investigating the New York City sewers (am I sensing a theme here?). Overall, the games on the Cogs iPhone game are ones I enjoyed playing, and would happily play again.
