If you’re a heavy debit card user, Checkbook will keep tabs of where you’re spending your money. It may not be the most visually appealing app, but don’t judge this (check) book by its cover.
Checkbook doesn’t have all the bells and whistles – such as budget tracking, projections and charts to visually understand expenses – but it doesn’t try to be a one-stop finance app. It reconciles transactions with your checking accounting, and monitors transfers and recurring transactions, among other financial services.
To record a transaction, simply press the ‘plus’ button at the top of the app and a screen appears to accept the transactions. You just tap in the data, including the type of transaction and what it cost.
If you’re looking for a simple way to track expenses (think what you’d normally enter in a checkbook), this app does exactly what you need. It remembers transactions, so if you have repeat expenses, you’ll only have to type a few letters or the first word and options.
Plus, it is password protected, so your financial information will be secure without having to lock your iPhone or iPod Touch.
If you’re still using a paper checkbook register, this app is a good next step.
