If you don’t have the LinkedIn iPhone app yet, stop what you are doing and download it right now!
The LinkedIn app does most of what the online version does; searching for people and viewing updates of different sorts. You can browse your connections’ list of connections and view individual profiles. The search function allows you to find contacts using names, keywords, company or title. While you cannot edit your profile using the LinkedIn app, you can do a quick update to your status.
Full disclosure: I am a heavy-duty LinkedIn user, and viral marketing is central to my business approach. The LinkedIn app keeps me productive when using my computer is not convenient or possible. During public transportation commutes, even the Wall Street Journal loses out to LinkedIn (although the Wall Street Journal has a great free app as well!).
The piece missing on the iPhone app is groups. In its present release, groups are simply not available. It would be nice to be able to browse groups and particular discussions. Perhaps a future release will address this missing link!
