Once again, Chad Ochocinco went long with another piece of glorious public relations. This time OchoCinco hit paydirt with his free iPad app.
The Chad Ochoccinco HD app is for those of you who want even more of the outspoken Bengals wide receiver stuffed into your jam-packed life (although it can’t fit in your pocket), along with his new TV show (Sundays on VH1 9/8c), Twitter account (OGOchoCinco) and iPhone app. This app will also showcase all of OchoCinco’s antics on the field during the NFL season.
This app has a lot of interesting features. You can submit questions to Chad, and he will answer one per day by posting in the app. You can keep up to date on his show, “Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch”, which premiered July 11. An MVP of athletes in social media, OchoCinco invites you to read a Twitter wall of random people talking about the Bengals.
Another cool feature is being able to play your music through this app, so you can keep up to date on Ochocinco while listening to your tunes. There is a video section in this app, which showcases a bunch of funny Chad TV videos, workout videos, and just random funny sports related videos.
An odd feature is the integration of RunPee. This is a website which tells when you can go and take a bathroom break during newly released movies. This is made by the same developer, so I guess they thought it would make sense to include this in their Chad Ochocinco app. The last cool feature is the crawler at the bottom of the app, which has quick snippets of the latest important sports news.
There is only one thing that I don’t like about this app. It only works in landscape mode. Lame.
You can find the “Where’s Ocho” – a concept that sounds creepy – web application and “School!” sound bites function by scrolling through the icons at the bottom. The latter has audio quotes from Chad in both English and Spanish.
The sound bites function is very appealing to me, since Chad is kind of crazy, and always has something fun to say.
