Carry your passwords securely with Password Caddy iPhone app

If you’re a savvy computer user, you have a different password and username for everything you do online—and with seemingly everything requiring some sort of login or passcode, that’s a lot of information to remember. Frustrated with other password managers available, developer David Trotz created the $2.99 app Password Caddy for iPhone and iPod Touch, and the result is worth a download.

Upon first launch, the slick-looking Password Caddy will walk you through its features and set up your private caddy. The app has the flexibility to create different lists of passwords, but as it will tell you, most users will only need one caddy for their information. After creating a master password (don’t forget it, as it can’t be recovered) you’ll be able to start entering in your information. The app comes equipped with some basic templates to choose from, but you can add and remove fields and sections as needed. You can also choose from a variety of icons to represent your accounts, including popular websites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, eBay and Slickdeals. Password Caddy can also generate more secure passwords for you, using your original password as the passcode.

Trotz Software provides a free desktop backup system for Windows and Mac available for download on its website. After installing the software in my MacBook and turning on the Wi-Fi on my iPhone, I was able to backup my caddy on my laptop within seconds. Transferring the information back to my iPhone was just as quick. The only downside to Password Caddy was the inability to add or edit account information from an actual computer, but this is only a minor quibble, since I found app so user-friendly.
