If you thought that all iPad games would numb your mind, think again. Brain Challenge HD for the iPad will definitely keep your mind sharp. For only $2.99, this brain-teasing app has endless puzzles of all kinds that will keep your mind active, and possibly even improve some of your brain skills.
I played this game for more than two hours, and I still haven’t even unlocked a fraction of the puzzles; I’ve been playing most of them on only the hard level. I’ll try to sum up this crazy-deep app as quickly as possible. There are three main categories: “The Daily Test,” “The Training Room,” and “Bonus Games.” “The Daily Test” and “Training Room” are both divided into “Brain” and “Stress” categories.
For “Brain” games, they are then divided into five categories: “Logic,” “Math,” “Memory,” “Visual,” and “Focus.” And for each of these categories, there are five different types of games to play (I have only unlocked 1-2 in each), such as balancing, math patterns, path memorizing, elimination, and bouncing ball heights. Each of these games challenges a different part of your brain, and really makes you think while having a blast.
For “Stress” games, they are divided into three categories: “Authority,” “Multitask,” and “Physical.” And for each of these, they have three games. So far, I have only unlocked one each, but can’t wait to get the rest. Some of them include following two sets of directions, moving things out of the way to solve a matching puzzle and solving two different puzzles at once that are time sensitive.
Finally, the bonus sections has three categories (only unlocked one called “Creativity”), and that category has three games (only unlocked one as well called “Cubes”). These seem to be more creative and include problem solving, and that one game has 20 levels (I’m stuck on No. 19). It involves moving blocks around in the four directions, avoiding obstacles, and causing them to hit each other.
Overall, this game is really a lot of fun. It doesn’t seem mind-numbing at all, especially since it has dozens and dozens of games (not to mention three levels of difficulty for each). I don’t even want to know how long it will take me to unlock all of these great puzzles. All I can tell you is, good luck.
