Whether or not you’re a fan of the Bowl Championship Series, it’s time to get ready for it. While all college football fans should download College Football Live!Sportacular to keep track of the latest polls and news, fans of individual teams still in the running should download these iPhone apps.
iPhone apps for the Big Three
Believe it or not, aside from major-conference university presidents, there might actually be a few BCS supporters out there – namely, fans of schools such as Florida, Alabama and the University of Texas.
Fans of the Gators and the Crimson Tide can get the SEC Sports app and follow both teams as they prepare for a Dec. 5 conference championship matchup that will likely decide one of the BCS championship game’s participants. The app includes live scoring, news and video highlights from the Web site of the same name.
Alabama and Florida fans may also be interested in CBS Sports: College. This $4.99 app has live streaming of the network’s Saturday game of the week, in case you’re away from the television. Also, the app has use beyond the college football season; it will stream CBS’ college basketball games of the week as well.
Orangeblood and Pigskin (Texas) are a couple of options for Longhorns fans looking to keep track of the team via their iPhone. Orangleblood boasts a schedule, team roster and a news feed for the school, while Pigskin offers the same features, minus the roster.
WebMD is another recommended download for fans of these three schools. While it won’t stop your team from choking in the final weeks of the college football season, it may offer treatments for the heartbreak that follows a tough loss.
iPhone apps for the rest of you
For the rest of nation, you would need a miracle to have your team playing in the national championship game. Perhaps TCU, Cincinnati and Boise State fans should get the Miracle Cards app and remind themselves of the everyday miracles in their lives.
Georgia Tech is one of the favorites to appear in one of the other four BCS bowls, so maybe it’s time for the Yellow Jackets to check out the Travel Channel Go app. The app has video city guides and business listings that will help the team and its fans get around whatever city they are (hopefully) visiting in early January.
After a convincing victory over USC, Oregon is in position to make its first Rose Bowl appearance since 1995. With that being said, it’s still too early to send a fellow Ducks fan roses via the Flowers app. The free app also allows you to download pictures to your phone’s album.
Though Iowa’s loss to Northwestern probably had more to do with an injury to their starting quarterback, it’s possible they got outsmarted by the brainiacs from Evanston.
