Booze hounds needed to buzz up Happy Houred iPhone app

The free Happy Houred app is only as good as it users, and right now, it appears there aren’t any. I took the app with me on a business trip to Miami in hopes that it would point me to some good deals on Ocean Drive in South Beach. In this case, the hostesses were better sales people than this app.

My colleague and I enjoyed two-for-one drinks during happy hour, but not because of this app. We also searched for a place to find drink deals in the evening to no real avail. The best deal turned out to be right in our boutique hotel: Free rum, gin and vodka drinks from 7 to 8 p.m. every night, even if you aren’t a guest. I promptly contributed this information to the app. I told my bartender that if this deal were offered in Chicago, the place would be packed, and let me tell you — there was definitely more rum than Coke in my drink.

Although the app is targeted toward promoting happy hour specials, it’s very similar to the concept of the buzzd app. In other words, the more people that buzz up in the app, the better it will become. There is potential here, especially with the myriad ways to search for types of outlets, but only if the booze hounds start buzzing soon. Right now, it appears they are too drunk to share.
