Just like Budweiser, the Bud American Ale Finder app is not perfect. But it will get the job done.
For good reason, Anheuser-Busch wants to make sure travelers know where to find watering holes that serve its brew. The free app turns your iPhone into a beer finder that makes even the drunkest of local bar-hoppers green with envy.
For the most part I was impressed. After entering my birthday, the app quickly brought up a map very similar to what you see on Google Maps or MapQuest. It showed my location and a number of pins – orange pins representing retail locations and red pins representing pub locations.
You can then click on the pins to get more information, such as an exact street address and a phone number to the establishment. It was simple enough and I was thrilled with how fast the app worked.
The major downside to Bud American Ale Finder was navigating the map. Even while sober, the map was not responsive at all and just downright difficult to use. I can’t imagine having a few American Ales in my system would make it easier.
But that should not stop you from giving this app a try for yourself. The fact that it automatically knew my location, not to mention the speed in which it brought the information to me, made up for any navigation issues.
