It’s happened to us all. Your phone wiggled its way to the bottom of your purse or slipped under the sofa cushions. Or maybe you just set it down somewhere and can’t remember where. Beep My Cell promises to remedy this issue.
It has a simple interface, a single screen with a cartoonish iPhone illustration. After downloading the app, go to BeepMyCell.com to register your phone.
Now you are ready to lose your phone. The next time that happens, and assuming you have a computer nearby, go to BeepMyCell.com. Log in at the site, assuming you haven’t forgotten your password, and click the “start beeping” button. Your phone will let out a sound reminiscent of a busy tone.
Beep My Cell fulfills it’s purpose quite nicely. However since it merely emits a sound, it’s best used if you lost track of your phone within a small space.
One flaw: If you keep your phone on vibrate, the busy-tone sound won’t be heard. Since most people don’t plan to lose their phone, this could be a major irritant on top of the lost phone.
