Sniffing out secret social networking treasures is a real treat with the Use this helper app to sniff out your most wanted Gowalla items. Just use the GPS function on your iPhone to find out what items are available around your current location, or “Scout” items by searching specific locations by address to hunt down hard-to-find items. I ended up picking up dinner at the diner located behind my condo the other night to snag a kayak, and popped my head in to say “hi” to my hairdresser in order to pick up a virtual box of Gowalla cookies.
You can also use the “Trackr” function of the app to track the history of items you “drop” i.e. leave behind. Then, keep track of your top two locations with the “Monitor” function, and even receive alerts on new items available. It’s like an iPhone game of virtual item “I Spy.” Another feature of the app, the “Sniffer Vault,” gives you quick access to your item collection that you would have to access through the Gowalla website.
