Twitter is the king of micro blogging but what if you want to speak your mind rather than type your thoughts? Try AudioBoo, a mobile app to share your voice with the world.
With AudioBoo, you can ramble for up to five minutes and then upload your commentary via the iPhone or iPod Touch (over Wi-Fi) to Audioboo.fm, where anyone can listen to your “boos.”
The recordings, in mp3 format, can be tagged with your location, photo and a description. They also can be linked to other social networking apps, such as Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed and Posterous.
Plus, people can subscribe to boos through RSS feeds or iTunes as a podcast.
I found the audio quality recorded on an iPhone 3GS to be excellent and upload times were brisk. A two-minute recording sent to AudioBoo’s server arrived in a few minutes via 3G connection.
A major drawback, though, is AudioBoo’s inability to save multiple recordings for future uploads, a problem that becomes apparent when you have a spotty network. Also, while the app’s interface allows users to listen to recent Boos, there’s no search function through the app.
If you’re interested in mobile audio blogging, AudioBoo is ideal for a quick way to publish recordings.
