Audio Press iPhone app manages favorite radio shows, podcasts

Do you ever find yourself sitting in the car long after you’ve reached your destination so you can catch the last few minutes of National Public Radio’s Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me? Well, it’s time to head inside, because with the AudioPress iPhone app you can assemble and manage all of your favorite radio shows and podcasts on your iPhone.

This fantastic app allows you to search and create lists based on your interests, and believe me, the options are endless. Users can choose radio and podcast programs on everything from sports to music, to politics to pop culture. Content comes from NPR, the BBC World Service, ESPN, the New York Times and on and on.

If you need suggestions on programs or podcasts, the app provides them. And if you know exactly which programs you want, there is a convenient search feature. Everything is organized by broadcast date, so if there’s something you missed, it’s easy to go back and find it.

The app is so jam-packed with great stuff, that it’s easy to forget the time while browsing through it all. One fascinating podcast I came across chronicled the rise and fall of ancient Rome. Another was a supplement to the best-selling book Freakonomics. For New York Times junkies, there is a “front page” podcast, which gives a brief of the stories on that day’s front page.
