Everyone has their favorite celebrities – the guys or girls that you’ll watch in a movie or TV show no matter how half-brained the premise might seem. But how far can someone’s enjoyment of a celebrity really extend? Here are five apps that might test the very limits of your love for these famous faces.
DJ Pauly D Greetings (Free)
Setting aside the debate about whether Pauly D is even really a celebrity, he certainly qualifies as famous. But as “charming” as the resident DJ on the Jersey Shore might be, even the most ardent fans might have a tough time with this app. DJ Pauly D Greetings lets you send video e-cards and video invitations to your friends using actual sound clips from Pauly D. Now you can invite someone to a party and then inform them at the end of the invitation that it’s T-shirt time, a valediction that has been missing from birthday invites prior to this app. Be warned, the app is free but the greetings will you cost you a couple of bucks apiece.
iSpoof Walken ($0.99)
I can’t think of a celebrity who has done more through overexposure to destroy the good will he spent an entire career building up. If anything, this very silly Christopher Walken-focused app might get me to like the guy again. iSpoof Walken offers comic book style animation and art along with 150 original things Chris Walken would probably say. The app even has interactive objects you can tap on. It is a robust selection to be sure, but if none of that sells you, the idea of “Christopher Walken telling your fortune,” should surely win you over, even if it’s a very fake parody of Walken that’s playing Miss Cleo in this case.

Ask the Hoff ($0.99)
Ask the Hoff is officially authorized by its namesake, David Hasselhoff, but that doesn’t make it any less strange. The app is sort of like a magic 8-ball, except the answers you receive come not from a watery abyss, but from The Hoff, who has recorded 30 phrases for your enjoyment. Hasselhoff is an interesting case in that he’s attained a sort of Shatner style ironic fame that this app certainly won’t do much to dissuade, but if you were getting a little tired of him, you might steer clear of Ask the Hoff.
The Muppets Animal Drummer ($1.99)
The only other official app on this list besides Hoff’s, The Muppets Animal Drummer is more than just an easy cash-in on the nostalgia everyone feels for the best Muppet drummer around. It’s also a rhythm game where you have to hit the various drums as instructed by Animal. I have a hard time imaging getting sick of Animal at this point in my life, but if you had a young kid who loved this app, I can see how you might grow to loathe the furry guy, too.
The Hangover – Alan Soundboard (Free)
One of the sneaky best parts of the original The Hangover was watching Zach Galifanakis chew the scenery with his possibly-slow but very endearing Alan character. And then everyone saw the movie and ran whatever appeal he had straight into the ground. If you weren’t sick of “Alan” yet, the Alan Soundboard really ought to do the trick. With only 18 sound clips, the app itself is even a little skimpy, but at least it’s free.
