Whether you just picked up a new iPad for the first time or are a seasoned veteran with all three versions of the device, it’s helpful to get a few pointers from the pros.
Like Appolicious, our friends at AppAdvice live and breathe all things app. The site’s daily news, reviews and app compilations are super-informative and a pleasure to read. The company also has its own line of apps and podcasts that drill down to particular interests and devices. Note that AppAdvice only focuses on iOS apps. For Android titles, it is best to check out the Appolicious Android app and AndroidApps.com.
Just updated on March 19 to take advantage of the millions of new iPad owners, AppStart for iPad (2012 Edition), is a detailed and well organized digest that will appeal to both new owners and two-year veterans. AppStart for iPad is also optimized to take advantage of the new iPad’s high-resolution Retina display. The (currently) free app publishes dozens of how-to articles and app compilations catered to people from all walks of life. The “iPad 101” and “Appsolutely The First 10 Apps Everyone Needs To Download” articles are obviously meant for newbies (although it’s a good idea for everyone to check out). More intermediate articles and app compilations include lists of best email apps, news apps and office/productivity apps.
As we know, in a world with more than 200,000 apps optimized for the iPad, there are titles designed to appeal to virtually anybody. More narrow articles range from “best of” apps for yoga, to video streaming, to remote log-in capabilities. You also won’t want to miss the “Trick Out” section which details the “stuff Apple should have shown you” but didn’t.
Other AppAdvice apps include the 99-cent AppStart for iPhone, the $1.99 AppAdvice daily app and the fittingly free AppsGoneFree.
