It’s no surprise to any of us around here that the App Store is imminently approaching the 25 billionth app download. The 15 billion mark was hit in July before the iPhone 4S launched, and holiday shoppers filled shiny new iOS devices with boatloads of equally shiny paid and free apps.
Based on the current rate of downloads, TUAW predicts that there should be a winner within a week. You can enter the contest by downloading the app with the magic number or, in accordance with U.S. law, with no purchase by filling out an online entry form.
Apple explains, “the downloading of the 25 billionth app is considered to be either the downloading of the 25 billionth app from the App Store or the receipt of the non-purchase entry after the download of the 24,999,999,999th app, whichever comes first.”
However they calculate it, I’m getting busy downloading. 10 grand buys a heck of lot of apps, periodicals, music, books and movies.
