Kindle for Android coming this summer
Your summer reading just got more digital as Amazon announced that an Android-specific version of its Kindle eReader will be available in the coming weeks.
Rather than engaging in a hot war against Apple, Motorola, HP and other smart phone and tablet computer manufacturers, it seems that Amazon is content with having a presence (and bookstore) on multiple portable digital devices. While it is unclear which company will ultimately triumph in eReading supremacy, for the time being the consumer wins.
Just like the Kindle for iPhone and iPad application, the Android version lets you do things like access your access your Kindle library and seamlessly transition between your smart phone and eReader. Being available as a free download is also a nice touch.
While many consumers are content reading books, newspapers and magazines on their phones, the ubiquity of the iPad and impending release of a Verizon and other Android-powered tablet computers will literally change the eReading landscape.

Today the Rolling Stones re-release their classic album Exile on Main Street. At least one YouTube video blogger, however, is more inclined to salute Tattoo You. He literally tattoo’d Apple’s logo on his body.
Check out Billy Hine’s backward compliment to Apple below. No word yet on whether lawyers in Cupertino will try to prosecute Hine for intellectual property violations.
Tweetie 2 removed from App Store, official Twitter app coming soon?
Since its debut last fall, Tweetie 2 has reigned as the best Twitter client for the iPhone (or really any device) available. It was no shock then when the independent mobile app developer was snapped up by Twitter last month.
Now comes word that the popular application is no longer available in the App Store. Fear not. Twitter recently released official applications for Android and other platforms. No doubt that the removal of Tweetie 2 means the official Tweetie for the iPhone app is on its way.
