America’s Election HQ iPhone app a great find as election season heats up

The free America’s Election HQ iPhone app is a product of FoxNews, so its content has to be consumed with a critical eye. That said, the app has some interesting news and some great features that make it useful to anyone with an interest in politics and the upcoming elections.

Among the app’s basic, but kind of cool, features is the “balance” tab. It includes a color-coded graphic which depicts the current breakdown of the number of Democrats, Republicans and independents in the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, as well as the breakdown of who holds the governorship in each state.

Another cool graphic shows the continental United States. You can tap on a state and get the breakdown of all the major election races, current poll standings, and other election news.

If you are interested in a particular election issue, check out the “Issues” tab. It allows you to browse news headlines via specific issues, such as economy, immigration and national security.

The news content on the app is decidedly right-leaning, but nevertheless interesting. There is plenty of info on some of the back-end election issues that don’t always get sufficient coverage, such as fund raising and advertising.
