Voices-Fun Voice Morphing is an app that does exactly what it says it will. To put it simply, it distorts your voice. The Voices app is available for 99 cents on the iPhone as long as you have the latest update. Users of the iPod Touch will have a little more difficulty. You can use it, but since the iPod Touch lacks a microphone, you’ll have to buy a separate one.
The app works like a recorder. I expected to find something a little more creepy — something along the lines of the voice manipulator in the Scream movies, but this app is all fun and games. It works by recording what you say and then playing it back in any number of weird and zany ways. You can sound like you’re on a Chris Brown album by using its retro synth Vocoder sound, or sound as if you’re yelling in a megaphone, just sucked down a bunch of helium, or turn your voice into a guitar.
Overall, the app really has absolutely no practical purpose that I can think of, but it is fun to play with. A few suggestion would be calling up your friends with a pre-recorded message sounding like you’re a robot, or placing a pizza order in the voice of a chipmunk (beware of people hanging up on your or coughing on your food, though).
