Fresh iPhone Games for May 13: Bug Chucker, Glo Flo, Spoing

We’ve got three casual puzzle-type games on today’s Fresh Games list. Check out Bug Chucker, an Angry Birds-like physics puzzler set in space; then hit up Glo Flo, another bug-based puzzle game where your goal is to draw lines between bugs of the same color on a grid, without making the lines cross. Finally, there’s Spoing, a puzzle-platformer from Chillingo that requires precision and planning in order to nab a high score.

Bug Chucker (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Picture Angry Birds, but in space, in a vacuum and with celestial bodies like stars creating gravity wells that affect the flight path of your slingshotted birds. That’s Bug Chucker at its simplest. In each stage, your goal is to shoot a bug into a small orb located somewhere on the stage, using gravity and floating boxes to help you do it.

Created by the developer behind PC adventure game classics Myst and Riven, Bug Chucker includes 42 levels and has more coming in updates in the future. You’ll have multiple kinds of bugs, each with different abilities, with which to solve puzzles. You also get two chances to skip levels should you get stuck.

Glo Flo (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Puzzler Glo Flo is all about bringing bugs together. In each level, there are multiple bugs of different colors on a grid. Your job is to draw a path between bugs of different colors across the grid by moving only vertically or horizontally. As you work through the game’s 60 or more puzzles, you’ll unlock extra content in the form of backgrounds for different game modes.

Speaking of game modes, Glo Flo packs two — a classic puzzle mode and a time attack mode, with different artistic backgrounds available in the latter that are unlocked as you play through the former. It also includes achievements and leaderboards, care of Game Center.

Spoing (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Another casual platform puzzler from Chilllingo, Spoing is all about jumping from platform to platform using the springing capabilities of elastic ropes. Your character, Spoing, is tasked with retrieving several “rainbow gems” by bouncing from string ledge to string ledge, using touch controls to stretch out each string and release it to send Spoing flying.

Spoing comes with 50 levels for you to jump through, and along the way, you’re able to choose the music you’ll listen to — from Spoing’s choices, or music from your iPod. You’ll also be able to build your own platforms along the way to finish each level as quickly as possible, which will lead to higher ranks on Spoing’s Game Center leaderboards.
