YouTube Premium subscribers around the world are reporting price hikes for the service. Users in parts of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America have noted cost increases for both individual and family plans. In the European Union, some users have mentioned that the price for family plans will rise from €17.99 to €25.99.
Individual plans will go up from €11.99 to €13.99. Similar price increases have been reported in other regions as well. These adjustments follow a pattern like the price hikes previously seen in the United States.
In the U.S., individual Premium plans increased from $11.99 to $13.99. Family plans jumped from $17.99 to $22.99. The price increases affect both individual and family plans.
They are part of a broader trend among streaming services adjusting their pricing structures in recent months. YouTube has not yet released an official statement about the new price points for its Premium service in these regions. It remains to be seen how subscribers will respond to the changes.
Global hike impacts YouTube Premium users
The biggest single plan price increase is in Norway. Prices there are up 42 percent.
YouTube Premium in Norway used to cost about $11.33 per month. Now it is just over $16. In Sweden, the family plan now costs $27.38 per month, up from $17.57.
On average, single-person plans have increased by 18 percent. Family plans are up by 43 percent. Many YouTube Premium customers affected by the price changes have said on Reddit that they plan to cancel.
They cite the significant increases to family plans as the reason. YouTube Premium pricing has not increased in the United States, Canada, or some other countries. In the U.S., the standard plan is $13.99 per month.
A family plan is $22.99 per month.
