An 8-year-old girl in Bedford, Ohio took her mother’s car on a surprising solo journey to a nearby store on Sunday morning, police said. Upon noticing the child’s absence, Bedford police found her safely at the store in Bainbridge. According to a Facebook post by Bedford police, the young girl took her mother’s car early in the morning and drove over 10 miles to the store.
“Well, I’ve finally found a woman who’s in more of a hurry to shop than my wife,” the post read. “That’s right, an 8-year-old took mommy’s car this morning and drove to Bainbridge to shop.”
Officers discovered the girl’s mother’s 2020 Nissan Rogue in the parking lot and found the girl inside the store.
Girl’s unexpected drive to Target
She was unharmed during her impromptu excursion, although she admitted to striking a mailbox along the way. Despite her misadventure, she was allowed to finish the Frappuccino she had with her. The distance from her home to the store was determined to be more than 10 miles, making her solo journey approximately a 20 to 25-minute drive.
No further details were provided about any potential purchases or if she managed to use any apps during her visit. Police have not disclosed whether any actions will be taken against the girl’s parents, and the incident remains under investigation.
