Welcome back to another edition of the iOS Apps of the week! As we enter into March and the beginning of spring, we’ve got plenty of great apps to showcase. Leading our list is the official app for the 2013 World Baseball Classic tournament, which began yesterday. The tournament goes for approximately another three weeks, so you’ll get plenty use out of it. Other top apps this week include an interactive Mixed Martial Arts app, a healthy desserts app, an app for the wonders of the world and another for the start of the Major League Soccer season.
2013 World Baseball Classic (Free)
It might be spring training for MLB, but the World Baseball Classic just got underway as players from all over the world converge to find out which country has the best collection of talent. The official app features live coverage of all the games from March 2nd through the 19th, a scoreboard, schedule and all the stats and news relevant to the tournament. There are even video highlight packages to watch, if you don’t have time to follow the games in real time.

Bellator MMA (Free)
If you want to take your love of Spike’s MMA coverage to the next level, Bellator MMA is the app you need. The app is meant to be used in unison with the network’s Thursday night MMA broadcast as users act as the 4th judge for fights and provide their scores throughout the night. The app also provides real time statistics and historical stats for each fight. Users can view pre-fight fan picks and partake in fight-of-the-night polls, where they pick what they thought was the best fight of the evening.
Healthy Desserts – by Green Kitchen ($1.99)
Avoiding dessert is hard work, but you don’t have to with the right recipes. Healthy Desserts is an app with an assortment of sweet treats that are made with natural sweeteners, healthy fats, whole grains and fruits. In the app you’ll find recipes for cookies, bars and muffins alongside 48 handpicked premium recipes. Users can save their favorite recipes and view great photos for each recipe. Ingredient lists can be emailed or texted right to your phone, too.
BBC Earth Wonders ($3.99)
Sure you might know the Eight Wonders of the World, but do you know the list of 50 wonders of the world that the BBC cobbled together? You will after using this app! Featuring 50 30-second long video clips of the wonders plus over 500 HD images, this app educates and entertains at the same time. The app displays the wonders on a cool rotating globe where users can point to a creature or area to learn more. Users can view the list by theme, continent, A to Z, and more.
MLS MatchDay (Free)
MLS MatchDay is back just in time for the new soccer season, and it has added some great new features in its fourth iteration. For starters, it now has customizable news filters, so you’ll only have to see the news that interests you. Users can also follow the U.S. Men’s national team as they play in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. Match alerts, including lineup available, start of the second half and condensed match available have also been added to the app.
