100 Day Tracker a must for serious snowboarders

I don’t know if snowboarders are forgetful folks, or if they just like planners geared specifically for their needs, but whatever the case, 100 Day Tracker aims to please with a free planner iPhone app that does a nice job if you intend to spend the winter with a board strapped to your feet.

100 Day Tracker opens on a calendar on which you can tap any day (as long as the day is in the past) to begin charting your snowboarding experiences. Once you tap a day, you’re taken to the second tab of the app, where you’ll enter the info about your latest run; everything from the weather, new snow, number of runs, the tricks you’ve done and who you rode with. While you can put in any slope name you want, the app also comes with a long list of potential mountains you may have just shredded.

Once you’re done entering your information, you might be curious as to where you can purchase more gear, and of course the app has you covered with a tab that notes the closest locations to your current vicinity. Unfortunately, it doesn’t list anything more than the name of the shop, the phone number and the address. It would be nice to know if they have any sales or specialty gear, but on the plus side, the number of the shop can be dialed by tapping right from the app.

Finally, the 100 Day Tracker also lets you watch videos on “ShredTV,” an in-app video player with quite a few clips to sink your teeth into. The “ShredTV” tab is certainly a nice time waster for snowboarders looking for a little more of their favorite sport, but the layout leaves a bit to be desired. It doesn’t feel particularly designed for the app; instead, it just looks like a Web browser window within the app. It can take a good deal of resizing just to be able to read the titles of the videos you can play.

Problems with “ShredTV” aside, the only other feature this app is lacking concerns social media connectivity. It’s surprising, given that even the most mundane apps seem to have a option to post to social media outlets, but 100 Day Tracker doesn’t give users the ability to upload their information to Facebook or Twitter. It’s certainly not a deal breaker, but just a bit of a head-scratcher.

Overall, if you’re jonesing to start logging your snowboarding adventures this winter, 100 Day Tracker would seem to fit the bill. What it lacks in social media options it makes up for in robust info that any boarder could love.
